The Challenge
Locating and verifying. Cole Underground must first consider where the utilites lay with their utility-locating equipment. Now, it’s time to walk the bore path again, paying close attention to where the anticipated path will cross or be near an existing line. When prepping Cole Underground has to take into account the type of power needed for the drill shot, what type of ground, and how long the drill shot will be to choose the correct equipment.
When all the planning and prep work is complete, Cole Underground then uses the Ditch Witch JT9 to start the drill shot. While an employee deploys The Subsite® TK RECON Series HDD Guidance System features proven TK performance with dual locating methods (walkover and Drill-To™) to help complete the drill shot.
The Result
Even with a tight timeline, we were able to source materials and keep up with the fast pace of construction, completing the entirety of the project on time. To complete such a large-scale project within the short timeline, the Cole Underground Construction team installed the fiber optic conduit just two steps behind the design, with a lot of decision-making and planning happening as the project moved forward.
